LawZero Appoints Iulian Serban as Senior Director, Research & Development

LawZero today announced the appointment of Iulian Vlad Serban as Senior Director, Research & Development.

Iulian was the Founder and CEO of Korbit Technologies, a Khosla Ventures-backed GenAI startup with a social mission to empower and upskill students and professionals. Korbit built an AI-powered learning platform that helped to teach software engineering and data science to over 20,000 students around the world. Korbit also built a code reviewing system that served hundreds of software companies and helped them detect and fix over 30,000 bugs in their production codebases (including critical bugs and security vulnerabilities in some of the world’s leading software enterprises).

Iulian completed his PhD in Generative AI (Deep Learning and Conversational Agents) under the supervision of Yoshua Bengio and Joëlle Pineau (Chief AI Officer of Cohere and the former Head of FAIR). Prior to this, he completed his Master’s at University College London under the supervision of Peter Dayan (Head of the Gatsby Computational Neuroscience Unit) and David Silver (who led the development of AlphaGo and AlphaStar). He has published over 40 research papers and co-authored 2 books in the fields of AI, Computer Science and Educational Psychology.

“We are delighted to bring Iulian on board. His technical expertise and leadership will be valuable assets to build and deliver impactful AI safety solutions.” said Yoshua Bengio, Co-President and Scientific Director of LawZero.
