LawZero is bringing together a team of AI researchers, engineers and dedicated professionals who are building the next generation of AI in an environment that puts safety and mission integrity first. The organization is also pulling together a seasoned leadership team to drive this ambitious mission forward.
Co-President and Scientific Director
Considered one of the world’s leaders in AI and deep learning, and the most cited scientist in the field, Yoshua Bengio is the recipient of the 2018 A.M. Turing Award, which is often referred to as the Nobel Prize of computer science. In 2023, recognizing the rapid progress of private labs toward AGI and beyond and the profound implications for humanity, Yoshua decided to devote the rest of his career to mitigating catastrophic AI risks and developing AI for the benefit of all. His new scientific direction led to the foundation of LawZero in 2025.
Yoshua is a Full Professor of computer science at Université de Montréal, Founder and Scientific Advisor of Mila, a Canada CIFAR AI Chair, and Chair of the International AI Safety Report.
