Biography
Adam Oberman is a Professor of Mathematics and Statistics at McGill University and a Canada CIFAR AI Chair. His research spans theoretical deep learning, AI safety, and earlier work on numerical methods for nonlinear PDEs and optimal transport. He earned his PhD from the University of Chicago and has held positions at the University of Texas at Austin, Simon Fraser and UCLA. He was the recipient of a Simons fellowship in 2017 and was awarded an Open Philanthropy grant in 2025 for his work on transitioning to AI safety.
