Joumana Ghosn
Joumana Ghosn is a Senior Research Director at LawZero, where she leads the core research team to deliver on the Scientist AI research program Prior to this, she was a Senior Director of Applied Machine Learning (ML) Research at Mila. There, she conceived and led the Applied ML research program (designed to accelerate the integration of ML in industry), overseeing $10M in funding across 18 deep learning research projects with 15 industrial partners, and 120 consulting contracts with SMEs.
As Director of R&D at Nuance Communications, her team was involved in developing cloud-based NLU systems deployed on over 300 million Samsung devices in total and 25 million cars annually. She improved data annotation quality by 30%+ while reducing costs by 35%+. Her team also enhanced the Computer Assisted Clinical Documentation Improvement system, improving medical coding and billing for 2,600+ Electronic Health Record solution clients. Joumana did a postdoc at McGill University Health Centre. Prior to this, she completed a PhD in machine learning under the supervision of Yoshua Bengio.
